Introducing the Work Management Academy

Every professional discipline eventually needs two things: a body that sets the standard, and a place to learn it.
Work management now has both.
Today we're announcing the launch of the Work Management Academy — the official training arm of the Work Management Institute (WMI™), and the first academy dedicated exclusively to work management as a discipline.
That "first" matters. Project management has had training academies for decades. So have change management, product management, and agile. Work management — the discipline underneath all of them — has never had one. Until now.
What the Academy Is
The Work Management Academy exists to do one thing: prepare professionals to earn WMI credentials and practice work management at a recognized standard.
That means free foundational courses to open the discipline to everyone, and structured, exam-aligned training for the WMI certification ladder — starting with the Certified Associate in Work Management (CAWM™), the entry credential for practitioners who coordinate, prioritize, and manage work across teams and tools.
Training and Certification Are Separate — On Purpose
If you've earned a credential from an established standards body, you already know this pattern: the organization that teaches you is not the organization that tests you.
WMI follows the same principle, as published policy:
The Work Management Academy delivers training. Courses, exam preparation, practice materials, and instruction.
The Work Management Institute administers exams and issues credentials. The exam, the standard, and the certification itself remain with the Institute.
The Academy is openly affiliated with WMI — no pretense of independence — but the separation is structural. Completing an Academy course doesn't grant a credential, and the exam is built against a published standard, not against any one course. That's what keeps a certification worth something.
Two Free Courses, Live Today
The Academy launches with two foundational courses — both completely free:
Work Management 101 — an introduction to work management as a discipline: what it is, why it's distinct from project management, and the core concepts every practitioner should know.
Workflow Architecture 101 — an introduction to the practice of designing workflows deliberately, rather than letting them accumulate by accident.
