The Workflow Watchlist is an annual recognition program presented by the Work Management Institute and published by Work.Management. It recognizes the consultants, workflow architects, automation innovators, and organizational leaders demonstrating meaningful impact in how work is designed, coordinated, automated, and completed.
How It Works
Honorees are selected on demonstrated practice and credible outcomes — not follower counts, employer prestige, software affiliation, or commercial relationships. Inclusion is the recognition: the Watchlist is not a ranking.
Nominations for the Class of 2026 are open through September 18, 2026. There is no fee to nominate, participate, or be selected, and self-nominations are welcome.

Practitioners designing how work flows across people, teams, and AI at the organizational level — the structure, coordination, and governance of work systems.

Builders creating the machinery of modern work: integrations, automated processes, and agentic systems that remove manual effort and connect tools.
Work Management Leaders
Internal operators leading meaningful improvements to organizational coordination, visibility, and execution inside their companies.
How Honorees Are Selected
Selection is based on the strength of a nominee's practice over the past 24 months:
Demonstrated work. Real workflow systems designed, implemented, or transformed — the practice of work management, not commentary about it.
Credible outcomes. Evidence the work improved how work gets done: cycle time, throughput, adoption, coordination overhead reduced, value delivered. Precise numbers aren't required; credible evidence of impact is.
Contribution to the discipline. Work that advances how organizations clarify, coordinate, and complete work — with open sharing of methods (writing, teaching, tooling, community leadership) considered as a tiebreaker.
The class is selected from public nominations and editorial research, and is presented alphabetically within categories.
The Review Committee
The Workflow Watchlist Review Committee is chaired by Brandon Hatton, founder of the Work Management Institute and publisher of Work.Management, with independent review by Amanraj Sidhu, a leading workflow automation expert.
Committee members serve in a personal capacity, not on behalf of any platform or employer, and recuse themselves from any nominee with whom they have a commercial relationship. Committee members are ineligible for the Watchlist while serving.
Integrity Rules

There is no fee to nominate, be considered, or be selected. The Workflow Watchlist is not a pay-to-play program, and nothing is ever sold to honorees as part of their recognition.

Individuals affiliated with the Work Management Institute or Work.Management, members of the Review Committee, and employees of firms owned by WMI's founder are ineligible.

Community partners who help spread the word about nominations have no role in selection and no financial relationship with the program.

Nominee contact information is used only to contact nominees about their selection. No one is added to a mailing list without their individual consent.

Who selects the Watchlist?
Selection is led by the Work Management Institute against the published criteria above, chaired by WMI's founder with independent committee review confirming the final class.
Is this a ranking of the top workflow consultants and practitioners?
No. While the Watchlist recognizes people doing top-tier work — including many of the top workflow consultants, automation experts, and work management leaders in the field — honorees are presented alphabetically within categories. Inclusion is the recognition.
How many people are selected?
Up to 25 for the inaugural class. Selection follows the standard, not a quota — categories are not equally sized, and the class will only be as large as the nominees who clear the bar.
Do I have to be nominated to be considered?
No. The class is selected from public nominations and editorial research. Nomination guarantees consideration, not selection — and self-nomination is welcome and carries no penalty.
Does it cost anything?
No. Nomination, consideration, and selection are free.
Is this connected to a software vendor?
No. The Work Management Institute is vendor-neutral, and honorees work across every platform — work management tools, automation platforms, and custom systems alike.
Why are WMI-affiliated people ineligible?
Because the program's credibility depends on the people running it not being on it.
When is the class announced?
The Class of 2026 will be announced in mid-October at this page. Honorees are notified in advance.
